Ali Phillips, a seasoned healthcare professional with nearly 20 years of experience, is leading a transformation in the healthcare workforce through her startup, MedicalMatch. As a participant in the Master of Business Creation (MBC) program at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business, Phillips is leveraging the program’s resources to grow her business, which connects clinicians with flexible job opportunities.
“The MBC program has been invaluable in helping me refine my business strategy and leadership skills,” Phillips said. “I’ve been able to gain insights from industry experts and collaborate with other founders, which has been critical to our success.”
MedicalMatch offers real-time connectivity and a rigorous vetting process to ensure healthcare organizations are matched with qualified professionals. Phillips’s platform is designed to empower clinicians while providing healthcare organizations with reliable workforce solutions.
“Our goal is to give healthcare professionals more control over their careers, allowing them the flexibility they need, while ensuring healthcare organizations receive the highest quality staff,” Phillips said.
Before founding MedicalMatch, Phillips successfully launched SmartMedStuff, which developed a patented infection-control product. This experience in practical healthcare solutions has fueled her drive to innovate further, leading her to create a platform that has already generated revenue and filled multiple shifts across the healthcare sector.
“We’ve hit key milestones, including building our MVP and fulfilling shifts in less than 30 minutes from the shift being posted, but we’re not stopping there,” Phillips said.
With a mobile app pending and a growing network of healthcare professionals and organizations, MedicalMatch is poised for significant growth. Phillips’s vision extends beyond just filling shifts; she aims to create a platform that empowers all healthcare professionals and transforms how healthcare organizations manage their workforce needs.
“I see MedicalMatch becoming a nationwide leader in the healthcare workforce. With our proprietary matchmaking algorithms and full automation, we are more than just connecting people — it’s about building a new ecosystem that benefits both clinicians and healthcare organizations,” she explained.
The MBC program has been a key factor in MedicalMatch’s success, offering Phillips the opportunity to work closely with business leaders, refine her leadership, and enhance her company’s strategy. “The program has provided me with a strong foundation for growth, both personally and professionally. I’ve been able to focus on scaling MedicalMatch, empowering my team, and ensuring we’re providing real value to the healthcare community,” she adds.
Looking ahead, Phillips is excited to continue expanding MedicalMatch and further revolutionizing the healthcare workforce industry.
“We’re just scratching the surface of what we can achieve,” she said. “With the right tools, team, and vision, MedicalMatch will continue to grow and make a real impact in healthcare.”
